Tasting Notes for recent Caol Ila

Rare Auld Caol Ila 1983 27yo Cask 3620 52.7%

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Mid Amber,

Nose:  Sweet smoke, oranges, menthol, fisherman’s friends, oily.  A faint meaty spam like note (in a good way).  Old tents and a touch of toffee.

Taste:  Honey, soft ashiness, lemon cheesecake, cherries and then some wet ash.  Lots of peaches and cream in this one.

Finish:  Quite creamy, dry ash.  Touch of ginger and nutmeg and a little black pepper.  The orangy note builds and builds.

Comment:  Stunning – Islay whisky at it’s best.
